Peter Kay triumps over Leon Jackson: What a slap in the face to Simon Cowell

Well who would of thought it? The ‘winning song’ from Peter Kay’s Britain’s Got The Pop Factor and Possibly A New Celebrity Jesus Christ  Superstar Strictly On Ice (which aired to 6 million viewers last Sunday) has entered the chart at number 2 ahead of the new second single from last years X Factor winner Leon Jackson. “Don’t Call This Love” entered the chart at number 3, while Pink held the top spot for another week.

The news is somewhat of a joke. A spoof programme has produced greater success than the flagship which inspired it. Although Peter Kay has failed to gain his third number 1, he will no doubt see this as a triumph, while Simon Cowell will no doubt be extremely angry at the result.

What Peter Kay’s, or should I say Geraldine’s success does illustrate is that reality television still punches well above its weight in delivery results but the market does seem to be saturated and milked to breaking point. Which song is your favourite? Undecided view them both below.
